Tales From the Supermarket

For the past six years, I have worked first as a cashier and then as a front-end supervisor at my local grocery store. A month or so ago, I handed in my notice. Since selling my Regency A TALE OF TWO SISTERS, I’ve decided to quit my job and write full time.

 

A dream come true? Most definitely—and in more than one sense. From the customer who got up in my face and yelled at me because we were out of carrots, to the lady who came back three times to insult me because I refused a credit card that clearly was not hers (I’d be surprised if her real name was John Wolf), to the guy who walked out with a cartload of wine during the Christmas rush (when confronted in the parking lot, he claimed he was going out to his car, because he’d forgotten the empty bottles he wanted to bring back for a deposit), I’ve had a few interesting experiences.

 

So let me tell you about some of my more memorable customers.
